For sub-zero expeditions, an insulating layer, featuring lightweight down or synthetic insulation, provides maximum thermal efficiency, safeguarding against extreme cold and wind chills down to -50ºC. Key Components

BASE LAYER : Worn next to the skin, this layer manages moisture by wicking sweat away, keeping the body dry. Materials like merino wool or synthetic fabrics are preferred for their moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties.

MID LAYER : Provides insulation to retain body heat. Options include fleece jackets or soft-shell jackets, which offer warmth while allowing breathability.

OUT SHELL : Serves as a protective barrier against wind, rain, and snow. Hard-shell jackets and pants made from waterproof and breathable materials like Gore-Tex are commonly used.

INSULATING LAYER : In extremely cold conditions, an additional insulating layer, such as a down or synthetic insulated jacket, is worn over the mid-layer to provide extra warmth.
